Areas of Research/Expertise

I am a scientific researcher (CSIII) at Interdisciplinary Research Institute in Bio-Nano-Sciences, Department of Nanostructured Materials and Bio-Nano-Interface, of Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj- Napoca, Romania. I obtained in 2009 a master's degree in materials science and technology, and doctor degree in physics in 2012, at Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca.

I have obtained significant results in improving the solubility of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical compounds, and I completed my professional expertise in Raman spectroscopy and crystallization techniques of pharmaceutical compounds in two internships at University UNED (Madrid, Spain, 2009), and at the University UNIBO (Bologna, Italy, 2011). I have good expertise both in the preparation of various compounds of medical and pharmaceutical interest, as well as in structural and thermal characterization by different techniques: DTA / TGA, FT-IR, and XRD diffraction.

Currently, I am the main coordinator of the Romanian network in COST Action CA18112, “Mechanochemistry for Sustainable Industry” (Mech@SustInd), carried out in the period 2019-2022. My main concern is promoted, implement and disseminate mechanochemistry techniques, in order to replace the traditional costly methods used in various synthesis, a fact that will contribute to reducing environmental pollution.

My recent activities include obtaining new materials by applying the mechanochemical method alfollowing classes of materials:

  1. active pharmaceutical compounds
  2. oxide materials
  3. nanocomposite materials
