Maria Elena Rivas Velazco

Areas of Research/Expertise

Working for seven years on mechanochemistry for new materials development on batteries, automotive, and petrochemical applications. Focused on understanding the surface and structure of high energy milled materials by using a combination of physicochemical techniques. Evaluation of scalability of the milling process for inorganic materials. Currently supervising a PhD student working on the Understanding the mechanochemical synthesis of mixed metal oxide catalysts by advanced characterisation techniques.

  • Johnson Matthey Global Innovation Award 2016
  • 10 patents filed on new product development by mechanochemistry
