Milica Balaban

Areas of Research/Expertise

Milica Balaban is a professor of organic chemistry at University of Banja Luka. A narrow area of expertise relates to the synthesis and characterization of poly(dimethylsiloxane), PDMS, based polymeric materials. This includes the structural (NMR, FTIR) characterization of polymers and precursors, as well as the thermal, surface and mechanical properties of materials with special emphasis on the influence of material morphology on its properties. A significant part of scientific interest is focused on the migration of polymeric materials and other organic residues and pollutants in the environment. The third area of interest relates to the improvement of chemistry curriculum, as well as education methods in the field of organic chemistry and science in general at the home university.
