Areas of Research/Expertise

Consisting of only undergraduates, the Hamilton research group is interested in exploring greener methods of chemical synthesis, especially for porphyrins. Having shown the possibility of obtaining symmetrical, tetra-substituted porphyrins using simple starting materials through mechanochemistry, we are now investigating mechanochemical synthesis of di-substituted porphyrins, and those having very bulky substituents. We are also developing ways of teaching green chemistry using mechanochemical methods in undergraduate teaching labs. Another area of interest is metal-organic assemblies involving porphyrins as ligands.

COST OVERVIEW

COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is a funding agency for research and innovation networks. Our Actions help connect research initiatives across Europe and enable scientists to grow their ideas by sharing them with their peers. This boosts their research, career and innovation
